Hello, stranger...

This is a private (from time to time) blog for my cinematic obsessions and scintillating (one-sided) reflections about movies. Feel yourself at home!

„I want to ride my bicycle...” (14) [Rose]

Sorry for the blunt delivery, but Emily is simply gorgeous in this sometimes funny, sometimes silly dark rom-com about Victor (Bill Nighy), a hitman wanting to retire (My name is Victor Maynard, and i am 54 years old and I work as a professional killer”), and a con artist (Rose) that pushes her luck too hard cheating an art-loving mobster (Rupert Everett) with a forged Rembrandt. Despite the film's flaws and flops, Emily Blunt is fresh and airy, she plays rough or speaks easy (e.g.: she always asks her potential sexual partners how much they weigh, but she never looks really interested to find the answer), she's the heart of the funfair and the key of this farcical charade. She steals the movie and gets away with it.

Wild Target (dir. Jonathan Lynn/2009) is the British remake of a French movie called Cible émouvante, made in 1993 by Pierre Salvadori, with a line-up including Jean Rochefort, Marie Trintignant and Guillaume Depardieu.
